Our People - Skill Development, Employability, Diversity, Ethics and Integrity

Exterion Media - CSR - Our People

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We provide opportunities for our people to learn and develop throughout their careers, so they can reach their potential. We promote a diverse and inclusive workplace and strive to create a healthy and safe work environment that supports our people’s well-being.

We believe in operating with integrity, both in our business decision making and the conduct of our employees. We have a framework of policies and procedures in place, including our ethical code of conduct, addressing bribery and corruption, human rights and information security, as well as our People policies, which collectively set out how we operate as a business. We also expect our suppliers to meet similar standards and take steps to engage and encourage them to take up these practices.

Mental Health

“Our industry has proved itself resilient in tough times. Our employees are just as hardy, but we have to give them the right tools and support. The courses from Mental Health First Aid England have helped immensely.” - Jason Cotterrell, Managing Director, Global

To reinforce the importance of workplace well-being at Global, in 2017 we had a special focus on mental health, with workplace well-being initiatives, events and training being given top priority. The roll-out of mental health first aid (MHFA) courses for all of our colleagues across our business has meant we have educated over 85% of our team on what good and poor mental health looks like, the warning signs and what they can do to help. We’ve seen a positive step change in open honest conversations with our colleagues not only with regards to their physical health but their mental health now as well. MHFA forms part of our regular training calendar.

Healthy workplace charter
We are proud to have been accredited the commitment level for the Healthy workplace charter. The framework designed for action to help employers build good practice in the health and wellbeing of our organisation has meant we have been recognised for the work we have been doing with regards to health and safety, mental health, physical activity and attendance management. It means that this will remain a core focus for us in being an employer of choice in the market.

London Living Wage

We have chosen to pay the London Living Wage as a minimum to all of our colleagues, across the UK, not just in London. The Living Wage Foundation publishes the Living Wage figure: an hourly rate, set independently every year and updated annually. It is calculated according to cost of living and gives the guided minimum pay rate required for a worker 25 years old + (taking into account what they should receive to provide their family with the essentials of life). We actually pay this as a minimum whatever your age, wherever you work in the UK and it’s something we’re really happy about.

ENEI (Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion)

We are proud to be Foundation members of the ENEI. They are the UK’s leading employer network promoting equality and inclusion in the workplace. Their role is to influence government, business and trade unions, campaigning for real practical change. We have worked with ENEI to develop our unconscious bias training which we are rolling out across our entire business. ENEI continually innovate and advise us on inclusive policies and process.
